ANNA, Tex. -- The family of Christina Morris has been alerted after human remains were discovered in Anna, Texas, on Wednesday.

Sheriff's deputies were on the scene near the Collin County line at about noon as television station WFAA's chopper flew overhead.

Morris' family told WFAA's Jobin Panicker that they had been contacted by authorities.

Christina Morris disappeared from The Shops at Legacy in Plano on Aug. 30, 2014, after a night out with friends. An acquaintance last seen with her on surveillance video in a parking garage, Enrique Arochi, was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of kidnapping Morris. Her DNA was found in the trunk of his car, proving to be a key piece of evidence during his trial.

The human remains found Wednesday have not been identified and have been sent to the medical examiner's office.
