PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – A man was arrested after Port St. Lucie police say he tried to trade marijuana for McDonald’s food.

It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday at the McDonald’s drive-thru at 3199 Southwest Port St. Lucie Blvd., police said.

WPEC reports Anthony Gallagher, 23, drove his Pontiac four-door car through the drive-thru line and tried to exchange marijuana for food, according to the police. The McDonald’s employee refused, and Gallagher drove away, police said.

Upon arrival, police say they took a description of Gallagher and remained in the area. A short while later, police say Gallagher then went through the drive-thru again.

An officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from Gallagher’s car.

Police found about 11 grams of marijuana on Gallagher, who police say admitted to offering marijuana in exchange for food.

Authorities say Gallagher said he offered the marijuana to the McDonald’s employee as a joke. Officers then arrested him.

Gallagher is charged with possession of marijuana of less than 20 grams and driving under the influence.
