Hernando man arrested after he's found carrying a possible grenade

A man on probation was arrested after he was found with a suspected grenade, Hernando County deputies said.
The grenade appears to be inert, but bomb technicians have not confirmed that yet.

A man on probation was arrested after he was found with a suspected grenade, Hernando County deputies said.

On Thursday, Hernando County deputies were sent to the home of Jason Taylor, 40, because his probation officer thought he had firearms and/or explosive devices.

Taylor was not home, and the deputies and the probation officer searched the residence and found nothing illegal.

Just before 11 a.m. Friday, a Hernando County deputy spotted Taylor walking in Spring Hill. The deputy asked to look in the backpack he was carrying, and the deputy found what looked like a grenade. Deputies also found Taylor was carrying a knife.

The Citrus County Bomb Squad responded to assist with the suspicious device. Deputies said it appeared to be a replica grenade, but until further testing is completed by bomb technicians, that is unconfirmed.

Taylor was charged with carrying a concealed weapon (the knife) and violation of probation.
