HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Hillsborough County detention sergeant was arrested Saturday after being accused of boating under the influence.
Sgt. Ryan Harvester was arrested by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in Citrus County.
Deputies say he was operating his own vessel on Crystal River when he was arrested for the BUI.
"As law enforcement officers, we must hold ourselves to a higher standard than the general public, and there is no exception for a deputy who is driving or boating under the influence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our Internal Affairs Office is thoroughly investigating this incident."
Harvester has been employed with the sheriff's office since 2006 and is currently on administrative leave. The sheriff's office continues to investigate.
