ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A Rowan County man suspected of abusing a small child has turned himself in.
Brandon Meeks turned himself in and was arrested at the Rowan County Sheriff's Office Wednesday night. The sheriff says he was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
Deputies were previously looking for Meeks, accused of causing injuries to a boy's genitals and bruising on the child's body. The injuries were discovered, in December 2018, when the child was taken to an area hospital for treatment, deputies say.
The child told a worker at the House Child Advocacy Center in Salisbury about the abuse, and a report was made to the sheriff's office.
The worker said the child told her that Meeks, 27, held his head underwater in the bathtub as a form of punishment.
The boy's mother, Hannah Eller, was arrested Saturday, March 9 for being present during the abuse and not reporting it. She is also facing child abuse charges. Eller is in jail under a $75,000 bond.
