Man accused of stealing $37K from St. Pete little league

Daniel Ptak, 55, of Allen, Texas, is charged with grand theft and acting as a money services business without a license.

A Texas man is accused of stealing more than $37,000 from St. Petersburg-based Northeast Little League, the Florida Office of Financial Regulation said.

Daniel Ptak, 55, of Allen, Texas, is charged with grand theft and acting as a money services business without a license. He was released on his own recognizance.

The OFR says Ptak, through his company Jevin, Inc., accepted payments from more than 250 families on behalf of Northeast Little League then didn't send the participation fees back to the little league. Instead, he allegedly used it for his own expenses.

He was arrested Nov. 20.
