Man suspected of shooting at Sarasota church turns himself in

Joaquin Vasquez-Sosa was wanted since the shooting on Sept. 8 at St. Wilfred Episcopal Church in Sarasota, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said.

The man suspected of a shooting during a fight at a large church party turned has himself in to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Joaquin Vasquez-Sosa, 41, was wanted since the shooting on Sept. 8 at St. Wilfred Episcopal Church in Sarasota, the sheriff's office said.

He was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm.

One person was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg at a hospital but was released.

Detectives say Vasquez-Sosa and the victim knew each other.
