Mom wants man to be convicted and die for her son's 2003 murder

After 16 years, one of the men believed to be responsible for Jason Galehouse's death has yet to be tried.

TAMPA, Fla. — It's been 16 years since 26-year-old Jason Galehouse was killed in a ruthless murder.

Steven Lorenzo is one of the men believed to be responsible. He's been charged with murder, indicted, but a judge hasn't convicted him.

"I just don't know how much further they can take this! I mean this has to be the longest case of anybody for a crime," said Jason's mother, Pam Williams.

Not a day goes by that Williams doesn't think of her son. He and other young gay men were lured to a Tampa home, drugged, tortured and killed.

"It's one thing when they tell you your son was murdered, or your son was in an accident and he's dead, but to say that he's been cut up in pieces, wrapped in a garbage bag, and dumped in dumpsters," said Williams.

The details are so horrific they almost seem fictional, but Williams said that's been her reality for 16 years.

"I've been through breast cancer twice now and I always live long enough to see him get the death penalty before I go," she said. "I want the death penalty. Nothing less, no deals, the death penalty."

It won't bring her back her son, but Williams wants Jason to know she fought for him until the end.

"I'm sorry you had to wait so long for this, but hopefully you'll be in peace," said Williams.

Lorenzo was in court Thursday. His trial was set to take place this coming October, but it was delayed again.

The next time he'll be in the courtroom will be April 2020.
