LAKELAND, Fla. — A 15-year-old boy with autism died early last year after police say a man gave him drugs and sexually battered him.
Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested Alain Forget, 58, of Lakeland, on charges related to the December 2017 death.
Investigators say the teen's grandmother on Dec. 27, 2017, gave Forget permission to take the boy to a home in rural Hamilton County. Agents say the home belonged to Forget's deceased father.
Two days later, investigators say Forget called an ambulance after the teen was found unresponsive. The boy was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and a medical examiner said the teen died from pneumonia and drug toxicity after finding morphine and Xanax in his system.
FDLE said it believes Forget gave the boy drugs and sexually battered him before his death. Agents say additional sexual abuse allegations were made against Forget during interviews with family members and witnesses.
FDLE said there could be more victims. Anyone with information about Forget is asked to call the FDLE's Live Oak Field Office at 800-226-5630.
Law enforcement said the State Attorney's Office will prosecute the case.
