Tampa police are asking for the public's help to find a car that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash early Saturday.

About 1:55 a.m., a police officer on patrol in the 3600 block of East Columbus Avenue found a 38-year-old man lying in the road, just west of the railroad tracks. The victim was breathing but unresponsive.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died, police said.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Jason Anthony Daniels.

Near the scene, investigators found some personal belongings and a skateboard. They believe the Daniels was either walking or on the skateboard when he was struck by a driver, who then left the scene.

A video from near the scene shows a vehicle that may have been involved in the incident.

Anyone with any information that leads to the identification and location of the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
