It's our favorite part of the week!
Friday leads us into the weekend, but it's also when we showcase our 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida. This week we spent time on the campus of Seminole High School in Pinellas County.
Walking onto the campus of Seminole High School, you'll quickly notice the different atmosphere. First, this high school has no bells. No audible notification that it's time to change class. It's part of creating the culture of responsibility among their students. The Warhawks are already developing solutions to things they want to fix at the school.
The campus is home to seven academies that include: Academy of E-Commerce, Sports Career Institute, Center for Education and Leadership, iHawk Academy, Graphic Media Communications Academy, Advanced Achievement in the Arts (4A) and Engineering Academy. No matter the interests, there's something for everyone.
In addition to learning valuable skills, there's the opportunity to earn professional certifications and even college credit. The culture and the opportunities are already making a measurable impact. Two years ago the school had an 86 percent graduation rate, and now they are at 96percent. It's one reason why they're our 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy FL.
