TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - A state probation officer faces a sexual misconduct charge for having sex with a probationer under his supervision, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said.
Jeffrey Thomas Desimone, 40, had several sexual encounters with the female probationer between February and June, FDLE said.
Patrick Manderfield the Press Secretary with the Florida Department of Corrections released a statement Saturday.
“This officer not only violated the law, he violated the department’s core values. Every day, FDC’s probation officers serve their communities and help offenders succeed, and his actions are no reflection of the thousands of officers who regularly perform their duties with integrity. We stand willing to work collaboratively with our law enforcement partners to ensure they have everything they need to aid them in this investigation," Manderfield said.
Desimone was arrested Thursday at the Florida Department of Corrections Probation Office. He was released from jail after posting $5,000 bail.
