ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Putting law enforcement officers in every public school and hiring more mental health counselors will be among items Gov. Rick Scott will discuss Wednesday during a stop in Tampa to promote his school safety plan.

The $500 million effort, which Scott announced Friday, includes requiring those purchasing firearms to be at least 21 years old, would ban "bump stocks" and require public schools to complete mandatory active shooter training during the first week of each semester.

Scott will make his remarks at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office location on North Falkenburg Road at about 9:15 a.m.

10News will stream his remarks live on our website and on the 10News Facebook page.
