Forced puberty: As if it wasn't awkward enough

Recent studies show that chemicals in some personal care products might be forcing children into puberty at a very early age.

As if puberty wasn’t an awkward and uncomfortable enough time for everyone, some 6- and 7-year-olds are starting to see their bodies change.

It’s called precocious puberty, and it’s a medical condition where puberty happens early.

Recent studies have shown chemicals in cosmetics, soaps and personal care products could be a culprit.

Dr. Sureka Bollepalla with USF Health says precocious puberty is starting to become more common.
