Friday is #WearYourKate Day.

It's a day focused on suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Designer Kate Spade, 55, was found dead by suicide in her apartment on June 5. Three days later, "Parts Unknown" star Anthony Bourdain, 61, took his life.

Dr. Lauren Chiles, a therapist from Tennessee, came up with the idea to #WearYourKate to raise awareness. A Facebook event was created, and local therapists and residents have shared their own resources along with their support. People are invited to wear their favorite Kate Spade accessory or a green ribbon, which is the color of mental health awareness.

Death by suicide is the 10th leading cause of death. In 2016, the Centers for Disease Control said 45,000 Americans age 10 or older died by suicide.

Clara Reynolds with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay will join 10News on Facebook Live at 4:45 p.m. Friday to answer any questions.
