HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A neighbor and friend cleaning out an old shed found an unusual surprise.
Behind the old dusty crates and boxes was a piece of history, tucked away for many years -- a practice bomb from World War II.
Unsure of what it was the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the pair called them after spotting the "suspicious" item.
The bomb team came out to investigate, determining it was a practice bomb.
To be safe, the sheriff's office impounded it for destruction.
According to the Army, these bombs, measuring just over 8 inches and weighing anywhere between one to four pounds, were used for low-altitude horizontal, or dive-bombing practice.
