TAMPA, Fla. - Homeland Security Investigations may be the most powerful law enforcement agency you've never heard of.

6,000 agents working in 205 cities across the country and in 147 countries.

"We enforce 400 federal laws, human smuggling, national security, child porn, weapons, drug cartels," HSI Special Agent Jennifer Sillman said.

From money laundering to counterfeit pills, the agency investigates anything that reaches the United States.

"Anything that touches the U.S. border, whether it money, people or goods into the country or out," said Special Agent in Charge James Sphere.

Such also includes American citizens selling weapons secrets to hostile governments.

And then there's drug cartels, especially the Sinaloa Cartel.

10News anchor Reginald Roundtree got an inside look at how HSI prepares to battle the cartels.
