PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Terrence Rowe, who was named to finish the term of Port Richey Mayor Dale Massad, is following in his predecessor's footsteps again.
This time, he has been suspended by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The governor suspended Rowe on Tuesday, barring him from acting as either acting mayor or as a city councilman.
Rowe was arrested last week and charged with obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice and use of two-way communication device to facilitate the commission of a crime.
Officials say Rowe and Massad were taped on a prison phone line discussing retaliation against a witness.
Massad was first arrested Feb. 21 and accused of shooting at Pasco County deputies who were trying to arrest him for practicing medicine without a license.
DeSantis suspended Massad days later, but Massad resigned just hours after the suspension was issued.
