CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Two people were injured when a car crashed into a house, causing damage, first responders say.

The crash happened about 1 p.m. at Americus and World Parkway boulevards at Top of the World in Clearwater.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 2017 Ford Focus failed to stop at a stop sign, hitting the building in the 2100 block of Americus Blvd. S.

Fire officials say 84-year-old driver Barbara Ellen Anderson and a 77-year-old woman in the home were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a precaution.

Anderson was charged with operating a motor vehicle in a careless or negligent manner.
