ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- As temperatures plunge, some Tampa Bay counties are opening cold weather shelters for those in need.

10Weather meteorologists expect to see a drop below 40 degrees in some locations. Open cold weather shelters currently are accepting donations and some shelters also will allow pets..

Here is a list of cold weather shelters by county:

Hillsborough County

Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 W Platt St., in Tampa

Low temperatures can create a dangerous situation for anyone who will be outside for long periods of time. Those looking for a warm place to stay tonight are encouraged to show up at any of the cold weather shelters listed above.
