A man who was caught driving 153 mph in a Corvette admitted to a Florida Highway Patrol officer the speed was "excessive," FHP said.

About 3:13 a.m. Wednesday, the officer was patrolling near mile marker 18 on the Suncoast Parkway in Pasco County when he saw a black Chevrolet Corvette speeding. He activated his radar and clocked the car at 153 mph.

The officer started chasing the Corvette, which pulled over after going through a toll plaza.

He spoke with the driver, Samuel Paul Ramos, 37, of Land O' Lakes., telling Ramos," 153 miles per hour is excessive, don't you think?"

According to the officer, Ramos replied, "I agree 100 percent."

The officer said he noticed Ramos was unsteady and showed signs of being inebriated, so he asked him how much he had drunk in the past three hours. Ramos replied that he hadn't had any alcohol in three hours. The officer then asked if he had been drinking before the three hours, and Ramos replied "I work in a bar, so, yes, I drank."

After performing field tests, Ramos was put under arrested for DUI. He refused to submit a breath sample and was taken to Pasco County Jail.
