Face tattoos help Fla. deputies arrest suspect in armed carjacking

A man who said he had his car stolen at gunpoint identified 41-year-old Yoannes Aleman by his tattoos.

GREENACRES, Fla. (CBS12) — A man who said he had his car stolen at gunpoint identified the suspect by his tattoos.

The suspect, 41-year-old Yoannes Aleman, appeared in court earlier this week.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrest report, the carjacking happened in February at a CVS store on North Dixie Highway in Greenacres. The victim, initially scared to come forward, said a man came up from behind and pointed a gun at his head. An unidentified woman got into the passenger seat of the car.

The victim told investigators the carjacker made him get into the driver's seat of his own car and drive around the neighborhood. After kicking the victim out of his car, the victim said the tattooed suspect got in to the front seat of the car and drove away with the woman.

Detectives interviewed the victim who said the carjacker had tattoos all over his face with a spider-web tattoo on his nose. According to the report, he also picked out the suspect's photo from a lineup.

The sheriff's office recovered the stolen car in early April at Palm Beach Cars in Lake Worth. The owner of the business told detectives he bought the car for $500 from Aleman a few days after the carjacking. The business owner told deputies he tried to get a title for the car but received a notice the car was reported stolen. The business owner gave a similar description of the seller, taking note of the green tattoos all over his face.

Aleman is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.
