More than $47M in drugs offloaded in Miami

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- More than $47 million worth of illegal drugs were offloaded Tuesday by the Coast Guard.

The 3-and-a-half pounds of cocaine and 50 pounds of marijuana were seized from three suspected smuggling vessels off the coasts of the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Aruba, according to a news release.

Here's a breakdown of the haul:

  • The cutter Sexton seized an estimated 2,700 pounds of cocaine on Oct. 10
  • The cutter Donald Horsley seized an estimated 816 pounds of cocaine on Oct. 4
  • The cutter Vigilant seized an estimated 50 pounds of marijuana on Sept. 30
