Gentlemen's club worker tests positive for hepatitis A in Hudson

Health officials are warning some customers to get vaccinated if they haven't been.

HUDSON, Fla. — Florida health officials say a food service worker at a local gentlemen's club has tested positive for hepatitis A.

The employee at ICON Gentlemen's Club in Hudson may have exposed patrons who ate or drank at the venue between April 15 and May 1. Anyone who consumed food or drinks there after April 24 should get vaccinated for the virus, according to the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County. Anyone exposed before then is beyond the window where they could get vaccinated and should monitor for symptoms, officials say.

List: Restaurants in Tampa Bay where hepatitis A reports were not made public

Hepatitis A symptoms may include abdominal discomfort, dark urine, fever, diarrhea, pale stool and yellow skin or eyes. Anyone who experiences these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.

Most people with hepatitis A get better over time, but they sometimes need to be hospitalized. People who are exposed may be given a vaccine or immune globulin within 14 days. That may help prevent infection.

If you have questions, a hepatitis A hotline has been set up at 727-619-0400.
