Missing man with dementia found safe

TAMPA, Fla. — Update on Tuesday, March 19, 2019: The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office found a missing man with dementia safe.

Florencio Villa, 78, was found safe, the sheriff's office said Tuesday.

Original Story on Monday, March 18, 2019: Tampa police are asking for the public's help in finding a missing man with dementia.

Florencio Villa, 78, last was seen around noon Sunday at home in the area of 16th and 15th streets north, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office news release.

Deputies say Villa, who has dementia, has walked away from home before and has claimed he's trying to get back to Miami. Villa does not have any means of transportation, cell phone or credit card.

It's believed Villa last was seen wearing black pants, a beige shirt, a black leather jacket and sandals. He might be carrying a bag of extra clothes with him.

Anyone with information about Villa's whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200.
