TAMPA, Fla. -- Publix is set to open its first ever store on a college campus Thursday.

The new location at 4425 East Fletcher Ave. will feature several full-service departments and seafood options to support the needs of students at the University of South Florida.

“We’re thankful for our partnership with University of South Florida, and looking forward to the opening of this unique location on their campus,” Publix relations manager Brian West said in a news release

Publix says it will also employ more than 150 associates at this new location, which include at least 50 USF students.

“We are so pleased to officially open the Publix store at USF, the first of its kind on a college campus, marking the beginning of a transformational new chapter,” USF President Judy Genshaft said in the release.

A brief ceremony at 7 a.m. Thursday will take place prior to the grand opening. For more information, visit www.publix.com.
