Pasco deputies locate inmate who fled from political event in taxi

The inmate left a political event in New Port Richey which was being hosted by Rep. Gus Bilirakus.

Pasco County deputies said they have found an inmate who left a political event in New Port Richey on Saturday.

Deputies said Nicholas Moore, 23, left the 12th Annual Veterans Resource Fair, hosted by U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, at the Verizon Center before the end of the event at noon and took a cab to Nebraska Avenue in Tampa.

It was unclear why Moore was allowed to attend the event.

Deputies said Moore was living at the Agency for Community Treatment Services in Tarpon Springs, and said questions about him should be addressed to them. We have tried to reach people at the facility, but there was no answer.

According to the ACTS website: "Keystone Residential Treatment Program is a co-occurring adult level II, non-secure residential program for individuals, male and female, chronically debilitated from alcoholism or drug abuse and mental health issues, who have not responded to traditional treatment services. Keystone serves as an alternative to incarceration for both the Pinellas County and Hillsborough County jails."

According to jail and court records, Moore was arrested Dec. 4 for failure to appear on charges of aggravated assault, but on Feb. 6 he was declared mentally incompetent to stand trial. He was ordered to live at the ACTS center and undergo treatment.

Saturday afternoon, the sheriff's office said Moore had been located.
