2-acre brush fire burns near Pasco County neighborhood

The fire is located north of the Longleaf subdivision in New Port Richey.

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — No homes were in danger as a brush fire burned near a Pasco County neighborhood.

The county fire rescue tweeted the good news around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. It says the fire was located north of the Longleaf subdivision, located near Starkey and Rangeland boulevards.

Two acres of land were burning, according to fire rescue. It originally stated one acre but revised the estimate once firefighters made access to the fire.

No homes are currently in danger as a brush fire burns near a Pasco County neighborhood.

Forestry responded with two trailers to assist crews at the scene.

Fire rescue said people in the area could expect smoke for a few hours.
