Roaches found in dining room at St. Pete IHOP

The violations included roaches near the bread rack and under the ice machine along with rodent droppings near the soda rack and near and air conditioning unit.

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida— A St. Petersburg IHOP location is back open after state health inspectors report finding live roach activity throughout the restaurant including in the dining room between seat cushions.

According to state records, the restaurant located along 66th Street North in St. Petersburg, was shut down as a temporary emergency closure on May 24th with 16 violations.

The violations included roaches near the bread rack and under the ice machine along with rodent droppings near the soda rack and near and air conditioning unit.

A spokesperson for Sunshine Restaurant Partners, the company that runs many Florida IHOPs, tells 10News that location’s building is nearing the end of its usable life and the company is looking to rebuild or find a new location.

“It’s an old building, but we’re working very hard to make sure it’s very clean, not only for our customers but our employees too,” said spokesperson Janet Alexander.

IHOP was cleared to reopen the day following their closure and a manager said all the violations are now corrected.
