Second arrest made in Plant City gas station murder

The Plant City Police Department has made an arrest in the murder investigation at a Plant City gas station Friday night.

The Plant City Police Department has made an arrest in the homicide investigation at a Plant City gas station Friday night.

Detectives say 67-year-old Michael Beson of Standish, Michigan was the victim of a thwarted armed robbery which occurred while he was filling up his gas tank at the Mobile gas station at 2010 N. Wheeler Street.

He died of upper body trauma at the scene.

On April 10, around 7:40 p.m., an officer responded to a call of shots fired and located Xavier Quesean Smith, 19, who fit the general description of the person who shot and killed Beson.

During his arrest, officers found a stolen firearm on Smith. He also had an outstanding warrant for violation of probation.

On Sunday, April 17th, the Plant City Police Department along with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested the second suspect at large associated with the homicide: 18-year-old Al'kwaun Ty'relle Nakiss Dixon. Dixon has been charged with first-degree murder, three counts of armed robbery, carrying a concealed firearm, discharging a firearm in public, and resisting arrest without violence.

He was transported to Orient Road Jail.
