TAMPA, F.L. -- In the 51 days police spent trying to catch a serial killer, plenty of you were doing your own detective work. From body language to ballistics, no theory was off the table.
Now that there's a suspect, 10News Reporter Liz Crawford put the social chatter to the Verify Test.
Almost immediately after Tampa Police made an arrest in the Seminole Heights killing spree, many people on social media are questioning whether TPD got the right guy.
10News can verify some of the evidence used to make this arrest. Police said the gun found at the McDonald's matched the gun used in all four murders. We can verify, Howell Donaldson III owned the gun used to murder four random people.
A lot of people are trying to make sense out of Donaldson's education and employment. In one Facebook comment on the 10News Facebook page, Lori Goodwin says, "I'm wondering if he graduated college. If so, why was he working at McDonald's?
10News can verify that Donaldson is a college graduate. St. John's University in Queens, New York confirmed he graduated in January and was a walk-on with the basketball team during the 2011-2012 season but never played in a game.
Prior to that, Donaldson attended at least two different Tampa high schools. We can verify he attended Plant and spent a year-and-a-half at Alonso High School before graduating in 2011.
