Florida taxpayers are paying a million dollars a month to give Medicaid patents 4 does erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.

It is the little blue pill that has changed America. Viagra and its competitors have brought erectile dysfunction into America’s living rooms.You can see it from the commercials on TV to things such as the “Levitra Shot of the Day” on CBS coverage of golf, products that help with sexual dysfunction are mainstream. It might not surprise you to learn that Viagra is popular in Florida, but it might surprise you to find that taxpayers are spending more than a million dollars a month, 12 million dollars a year to pay for Viagra and its competitors for people on Medicaid. Dave Harrison asks, “What are those guys in Tallahassee thinking.” He says it make no sense to him . However the blame can’t be put on the state legislature. The federal government forces the state to pay for the pill.Harrison says that makes him really want to pay his taxes on April 15th. Governor Jeb Bush isn’t happy with the mandate to pay for the medicine and he believes he has found a loophole. The Governor is proposing to cut the dosage from 4 pills a month to once a month. He says it will save the state millions. A spokesperson for the federal agency that requires the state to cover the sexual dysfunction drug says those who oppose it are being ridiculous. She says poor people are entitled to get medicine for a body part that is having a problem, no mater what part of the body that is dysfunctional. The federal spokesperson says the Governor is being unfair to poor people.While some taxpayers say they don’t mind paying for the drugs, most we talked to were angry. They say with rising medical costs it is not fair that they have to pay for drugs like Viagra, unless they can sign up and get some as well.
