BYRON, Ga.—Rear-ending somebody can be bad enough, but what makes it even worse is when the person you’re rear-ending is a police officer.

That was the case for one distracted driver in Byron Georgia, police said.

A video of the incident was posted to Facebook and shows the moment the driver slams into the back of an officer’s vehicle.

The incident happened just before a new hands-free driving law went into effect in Georgia July 1.

The new law aims to make the Georgia roads safer, and to prevent more distracted driving incidents like this one from happening.
