TAMPA, Fla. -- Ybor city was full of excitement Saturday for the 2016 Tampa Pride Parade and Festival.

Thousands of people took to the streets to celebrate LGBT rights and equality.

The parade was co-sponsored by the city of Tampa and kicked off by Mayor Bob Buckhorn. Then lots of interesting and lively floats followed.

Down the street at Centennial Park was the festival.

"It's my first parade actually. I've always wanted to go, I support LGBT and I just wanted to check it out," said Tina Tucker as she enjoyed the parade.

The Hillsborough County Commission also proclaimed March 26th as Tampa Pride celebration day.
