Powerball tickets await players on May 10, 2004, at Cumberland Farms convenience store in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania.

One lucky winner in New York beat 1 in 292.2 million odds Wednesday night and can claim the $298.3 million Powerball jackpot after matching all six numbers. It was the second Powerball win in New York in two months.

There were three $1 million winners, one in Florida, Illinois and Wisconsin, for matching the first five numbers.

It wasn't the biggest jackpot, but a day after Christmas, there was still plenty of excitement.

The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday, Dec. 26, climbed to $298.3 million.

The numbers drawn Wednesday night:

5-25-38-52-67 with a Powerball of 24

(2x multiplier)

New York also produced a winner on Oct. 27, when the previous Powerball jackpot was hit. That person split a $687.7 million payout with an Iowa player.

And just this week someone in New York won $1,000 a week for life in the Cash4Life game.

Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

By the way, the Mega Millions for Friday night, Dec. 28, has climbed to $348 million, the 13th largest jackpot of its kind.
