SAN DIEGO — A man won more than $1.6 million at a penny slot machine inside a California casino.
It happened recently at the Valley View Casino & Hotel near San Deigo.
“I’m still in shock. I couldn’t sleep for two days. I was up tossing and turning and thought they would call me and say the machine malfunctioned,” said Robert, a frequent guest who has been trying his luck at the casino for the last half-decade.
Robert said he won the unexpected $1,664,509.91 payout on an IGT Wheel of Fortune Ultra Wheels penny slot machine. He plans to invest the money for his future and get a headstart on his retirement savings.
"Robert has been a loyal guest for many years, and we’re all so happy for him," said Randy Reedy, the casino and hotel's vice president of gaming operations.
News of Robert's victory comes just six weeks before the grand opening of a $50 million expansion and renovation at Valley View Casino & Hotel, which is home to some of the most iconic restaurants in San Diego.
