Crazy video of Hawaii's Kilauea volcano filmed day before 23 people were injured

A Denver woman vacationing in Hawaii captured startling footage of the Kilauea volcano near Hawaii's Big Island.

Several companies operate boats that allow tourists to see the molten rock flowing into the ocean.

One of those tourists, Jesi J. Jones, told 10News she was taking a sunrise tour with her two children around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. That's when she captured the video above. According to her, there was a lava explosion, so her captain steered her boat away from any potential danger.

But, 24 hours later, another group of tourists came face-to-face with that danger.

On Monday, 23 people were injured when a "lava bomb" hit another tour boat -- operated by a different company. The owner and captain of the boat hit by lava Monday told the Associated Press he never even saw the explosion before it rained chunks of lava down on his vessel -- smashing a basketball-size hole through the roof.

Most of the passengers suffered only superficial injuries, but four of them were taken away by ambulance -- one of them with serious injuries.
