Florida deputy gently comforts dog who was hit by car

If the dog's owner isn't found soon, she'll go into surgery.

An Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputy sat and gently comforted an injured dog while he waited for help to arrive.

The dog had been hit by a car and was clearly in pain.

Deputy Josh Fiorelli put his jacket over the animal to keep her warm, while carefully petting her head to keep her calm. Fiorelli didn't leave until after animal control arrived.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the dog was driven to the Osceola County Animal Shelter, where officials say she is stable and eating. However, WFTV reports the dog is dealing with scrapes and a dislocated leg.

Staff is reportedly having a tough time identifying her owner. If no owner comes forward by Thursday, she will be given surgery, according to WFTV.
