LONDON, UK — 35-year-old YouTube star Emily Hartridge died after being hit by a truck while she was riding an electric scooter Friday in Southwest London, the New York Post reports.
She died in what authorities are calling a 'freak accident' and the first of its kind in Britain.
Hartridge had an impressive nearly 350,000 subscribers for her lifestyle, fitness and travel videos which she started posting seven years ago. She had 44,000 followers on her Instagram page.
She became well known on her YouTube for posting videos in listicle format with the title "10 Reasons Why," with topics such as sex, relationships, love, gender, and life.
She has gained three million views a month and went on to host different TV shows, including 'Oh Sh*t I’m 30,' People.com reports.
Her Instagram page made the sad announcement on Saturday.
"A woman in her 30s had suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene," a London press release said.
YouTube also commented on the tragic loss, saying "We're deeply saddened to learn about the tragic loss of a truly talented British creator, Emily Hartridge. Our thoughts and condolences go out to all of her loved ones and fans.”
