NEW ORLEANS — A mother and her two children were carjacked at gunpoint while parked in a driveway in New Orleans East Sunday night, police say.

The New Orleans Police Department says the armed carjacking happened around 8:05 p.m. in the 6900 block of Coventry Street. The mother said she was sitting in the car with her two children when an unknown man knocked on her window, pulled out a handgun and ordered her out of the car.

Police released raw security video of the carjacking Tuesday morning.

The woman said she was able to remove her young son from a child car seat before the man drove away towards Sheffield Street.

The car was recovered Tuesday afternoon at the corner of Curran Boulevard and Unity Drive. However, the suspect is still at-large.
