Democrat Bill Nelson is seeking reelection, as Republicans Rick Scott and Roque De Le Fuente campaign to unseat him in the U.S. Senate.

Florida will elect one of its two U.S. senators on Nov. 6, 2018.

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio's term doesn't end until 2023. But, Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson's seat is up for grabs.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott won the Republican nomination in the Aug. 28 primary election against real-estate developer Roque De La Fuente.

Below are the two candidates running for Florida's second U.S. Senate seat.

Bill Nelson (D) -- The incumbent senator has 40 years in elected office under his belt, including having a U.S. Senate seat for Florida since 2001. The former NASA astronaut is moderately liberal and has advocated for higher taxes on the wealthy, renewable energy and gun regulations. He’s against offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and is pro-choice when it comes to women’s reproductive rights. He is an advocate for protecting Medicare and Social Security funds.

Rick Scott (R) -- The two-term Florida governor lives in Naples and is the former CEO of the Columbia/HCA healthcare company.
