High red tide concentrations still seen in Pinellas, Manatee, northern Sarasota counties

The organism that causes red tide increased in the three counties compared to last week.

High concentrations of red tide continue to affect Pinellas, Manatee, and northern Sarasota counties, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The latest FWC report shows Karenia brevis, the organism that causes red tide, increased in the three counties compared to last week.

High concentrations were also seen in Bay County to the north and southern Brevard to northern St. Lucie counties on the East Coast.

Reports of fish kills were received for Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, and Collier counties.

Respiratory irritation was reported over the past week in Pinellas, Manatee, and Sarasota counties.
