"Stay Right at Night" is a new message being shared around the state to help you to avoid a wrong-way driver.

In 2015, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) says there were 1,490 wrong-way crashes in Florida.

DHSMV wants to make sure you're prepared for anything on the roads. Most of the time, they say a wrong-way driver stays in the right lane, which would be your left lane. If you stay right, you'll likely avoid a head-on crash.

So, if you see a sign warning of a wrong-way driver, slow down, and move right.

FDOT is implementing various wrong way driving countermeasures, such as wrong way signage, roadway reflectors, large painted pavement markings to help motorists identify the proper entrance and exit ramps on the interstate, flashing signs at exit ramps with radar detection, and emergency alert signage when wrong way drivers are detected.
