HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- A 45-year-old Thonotosassa woman was arrested Friday night in a wrong-way crash on Hillsborough Avenue.
Florida Highway Patrol said that Yadixa Rodriguez veered into eastbound traffic on Hillsborough Avenue approaching Benjamin Road around 11:00 p.m. when she crashed into a traffic control signal then a second vehicle which was stopped in traffic.
Rodriguez's Nissan Altima collided with a BMW driven by Cheryl Segreto, 43, of St. Petersburg. Segreto was not injured in the crash, but her passenger Karen Slaugenhaupt suffered minor injuries. Slaugenhaupt was treated at the scene and was not transported to the hospital.
Rodriguez was not injured.
Following the crash, Rodriguez allegedly punched a Good Samaritan who came to assist the victims.
Rodriguez has been charged with driving under the influence with property damage, refusing to submit to lawful test and battery.
A search of the arrest record revealed Rodriguez has been charged with battery three times since 2000 and driving under the influence twice.
