The high-profile player purge continued for the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.
Days after trading starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi to the Twins and designating All-Star outfielder Corey Dickerson for assignment, the Rays moves continued with the trade of outfielder Steven Souza Jr. to the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-team deal. The Rays received minor-league prospect Nick Solak from the New York Yankees in the trade.
Souza Jr. blossomed into a star for the Rays in 2017, hitting 30 homers and driving in 78 runs.
