UCF quarterback Milton recovering from surgery after knee injury during USF game

Milton's family released a statement Saturday, thanking fans for support and the medical staff for their care.

University of Central Florida quarterback McKenzie Milton is recovering from surgery after a severe knee injury during Friday's game against the University of South Florida.

Milton's family released a statement Saturday, thanking fans for support and the medical staff for their care.

The statement reads:

"The Milton Family would like to express gratitude for all your thoughts, prayers, and concerns. McKenzie's surgery was successful and he is recovering well. We would like to thank the medical staffs of Tampa General Hospital, the University of South Florida, and the sports medicine staff at UCF for their superb care.

"McKenzie looks forward to rejoining his teammates in Orlando and supporting them in their quest to bring another conference championship to our program.

"Remember what Ohana means. No one gets left behind. #UCFamily."

Milton's knee was injured in the second quarter of Friday's game at Raymond James Stadium. The 21-year-old quarterback was born in Hawaii.

UCF went on to win the game 38-10.
