TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed tight end O.J. Howard on injured reserve after he suffered foot and ankle injuries over the weekend against the New York Giants.
On Tuesday, the team said Howard got injured after Giants safety Landon Collins tackled him awkwardly at the end of a 24-yard catch-and-run during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game.
Howard walked off the field under his own power. However, he did not return to the game.
"Tough times never last, tough people do," Howard tweeted Tuesday.
Howard finishes this season with 34 catches for 565 yards and five touchdowns.
The 19th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft also went on injured reserve last season with an ankle injury.
Tampa Bay (3-7) is on a four-game losing streak and has lost seven of its last eight games.
The Buccaneers host the San Francisco 49ers at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.
