Google is updating its SOS alerts to provide more real-time information about areas affected by natural disasters.
The internet search company also plans to add new navigation warnings in Google Maps to help users navigate around danger.
Google’s SOS Alerts provide essential information quickly in the event of a natural disaster. The update aims to provide more detailed information about hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.
Google will attempt to provide forecast cones for hurricanes. The plan is to also display a crisis notification card in Google Maps if you’re near an impacted area.
Flood forecasts will show an overlay on a map of affected areas, along with severity.
Earthquakes will get a crisis card, which will show users epicenter, magnitude and areas affected.
