PLANT CITY, Fla. — An injury crash caused delays Monday morning on the westbound lanes of Interstate 4 near Branch Forbes Road in Plant City.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers reopened I-4 westbound around 5:30 a.m. ET Monday after it was closed for nearly two hours.
The FHP said a car was stopped in the center lane of I-4 without lights activated. Troopers aren't sure why the car was stopped. The driver of the car was standing on the shoulder of the interstate while a passenger remained inside, the FHP said.
Another car then collided with the stopped vehicle, the FHP said.
According to the FHP, emergency medical services airlifted a woman to Tampa General Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities took two others to Tampa General Hospital for examination.
Charges are pending in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
