TAMPA, Fla — Update: Dale Mabry Highway between Gandy Boulevard and Fair Oaks Avenue was back open Wednesday morning after CSX worked on railroad crossing repairs.
Previous: Drivers, if your normal route includes Dale Mabry Highway in South Tampa, you will want to find another option this weekend.
Starting Friday, Dec. 4, Dale Mabry Highway will be closed between Gandy Boulevard and Fair Oaks Avenue so CSX can replace the railroad crossing located just south of Fair Oaks Ave. FDOT says CSX and crews began the closure process overnight Thursday with the closures in place by the early Friday morning commute.
Drivers will have to detour around the work zone using Bay to Bay Boulevard, Manhattan Avenue, and Gandy Boulevard.
The route is expected to reopen Monday, Dec. 7, weather permitting, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
While the road may be closed to drivers, businesses in the area, and people who live there will still be able to get in and out of there.
